Hours after 6ix9ine was sentenced to four years probation in his sexual misconduct case,
the rapper's bodyguard was shot outside of a restaurant in New York
where a post-court ruling celebration was taking place today (Oct. 26).
According to The Shade Room,
who first broke the news, Tekashi and his entourage were on Madison
Avenue and E. 59th Street near Philippe Chow restaurant. The "Gummo"
rapper and his crew were apparently meeting up with an executive from
10k Projects, the label where 6ix9ine is signed, for a party. A
bodyguard for the 10k Projects executive informed the Brooklyn rhymer he
would only be allowed to enter the restaurant, and ultimately denied
Tekashi's entourage, which resulted in an argument.
TMZ reports
that during the argument, a third party walked up to the restaurant and
fired four gun shots, subsequently hitting Tekashi's bodyguard in the
stomach. The bodyguard was taken to the hospital.
Law
enforcement officials shot at the suspect in an attempt to capture him
and believe he was hit by gunfire as a result. Cops are currently
searching for the gunman.
Earlier today, during 6ix9ine's court sentencing, the judge told him he had to stay out of trouble to avoid prison time. The polarizing artist informed the judge that he is a role model and plans to do better.
"I
have millions of youth that look at me as a role model and the last
place I want to be is incarcerated, they don't deserve it," he said to
the judge. "Thank you."
As part of the terms of
his new probation, 6ix9ine will have to stop associating with gang
members while avoiding all gang activity.
