Yella Beezy is recovering in a Texas hospital after being shot over the weekend, but that didn't stop him from seeing his shining moment at the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards, where he performed his breakout song "That's on Me" onstage.
The
award show aired on Tuesday night (Oct. 16). The same night, video
surfaced of the rapper lying in a hospital bed while being attended to
by nurses. He has an oxygen mask over his mouth to assist with his
breathing. Across the room, the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards plays on the
television, which the rapper is watching intently. He then notifies the
RNs that he is the person performing. Surprised, they ask him some
questions about the show.
The Dallas rapper appears to be recovering well after being shot on Sunday morning (Oct. 14). As previously reported, Beezy was shot during a drive-by
on the Sam Rayburn Tollway in Lewisville, Texas. He was reportedly hit
multiple times in the shooting. Authorities arrived on the scene and
rushed him to a nearby hospital.
Things seemed
dire at first. Fellow Lone Star State rapper Trae Tha Truth posted about
the shooting on Instagram. "Damn.... Prayers Up... Bad News Coming From
Every Direction The Last 24hours," he captioned a photo of Beezy. "Pull
Through🙏🏿 @yellabeezy214 #Texas."
XXL recently chopped it up with Yella Beezy for The Break. He had hopes of being "the next face of the music industry."
