Idris Elba Signs Global Publishing Deal With Universal Music Publishing Group
Idris Elba signed a global publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group, the company announced Wednesday (June 26). UMPG is also set to sub-publish artists on Elba's own London-based label, 7Wallace.
Elba's first single "Boasty" with Wiley, Stefflondon and Sean Paul was released in January. Elba's most recent single "Ballie" featuring Nigerian singer/songwriter Kah-Lo was unveiled during his Coachella performance last spring.
“Like countless other folks, I’ve been a fan of Idris through his acting roles for years with The Wire, Luther and Beasts of No Nation, among others, so when I first heard and loved ‘Boasty’ a few months ago and found that Idris had remixed and rewritten the song, it was my top priority to sign him to UMPG," said Mike McCormack, UMPG's UK Managing Director.
