Cardi B has officially shut down her Instagram account.
After venting about the backlash she’s seen after her Invasion of Privacy album won the award for Best Rap Album
at the 2019 Grammy Awards, Cardi deactivated her IG account on Monday
evening (Feb. 11). She doesn't appear to have given any explicit reason
for this deactivation, but it's not much of a stretch to say that
negative comments from the social media world could have played a role
in her sudden IG departure.
In
a now-deleted video Cardi posted earlier today, she spoke about the
negativity she'd seen surrounding her name. It was probably because of
this negativity that Cardi thanked J. Cole, who had given her a shoutout for winning the gramophone as he discussed his own perception of the award.
"[I]
don’t never wanna be propped up by tearing somebody else down," Cole
began in the tweet he posted earlier today. "Seeing Cardi b win a Grammy
make me feel like I won. Same with jay rock and Anderson. I feel for
Travis cuz he really deserved that acknowledgement as well, but his
moment is way bigger than the awards could say."
In
a post she uploaded with a screenshot of Cole's tweet, Cardi
wrote,"Thanks @realcoleworld and everybody that was in the category had
amazing albums !"
Here's to hoping Cardi stays up.
